If you go to a restaurant/hotel that is part of a chain, do you expect the same?
I often visit the same chain of restaurants and hotels and sometimes I have the same sort of room and sometimes rooms that are totally different. It might just be me, but if I go to the same chain with the same sort of room, I expect the same. within reason. I don’t expect the room the size of a box or a massive suite if I have paid for a superior room. I must admit I would be delighted with the latter, but what if you had the room the size of a box with no window? Would you say something?
I recently checked in a hotel with a regular access room requirement. The floor was wet in the room but to be honest I didn’t realise until I walked over the floor during the night, but the size of the room was OK. I did raise the issue of the floor the next morning and a feeble apology was made, but there was a massive area of the floor that was soaking wet and I did wonder with what?? I had to wear my shoes all the time in the room to avoid wet feet.
However, just over a week later, I checked in to the same hotel, with the same room requirement and found I had a much smaller room. A very dark room with half a window. I did want to complain, but didn’t worry until Dave noticed the bathroom was not fit for an access room . There were no grabs rails nor was their room for a wheelchair in the room. He went to complain and we were given a new room but they were unhappy we had used the room i.e laid on the bed – there was only one chair, so I am not sure if we were meant to sit on each other’s knee and used the toilet.
When we were given a new room it was without a challenge, as even though we were disabled, we had to empty the room before we could exchange the keys for a new room. It wasn’t an easy task, as we were on the 10th floor, reception was on 1st floor and our original room was on 5th floor. We managed it with some difficultly.
Sometimes I think hotels try it on if you are not a native of that country, what do you think?
