Not As Described

How often do you get to somewhere and it is not as described?

What do you do? I often complain and sometimes I look at what I have booked and just think it has been cleverly described.

Recently we went to New York and our hotel room was not as described, but we didn’t do anything, as we were there three nights and we had more things to worry about than the room.

More recently our Harbour and Water view turned out not to be as expected. We arrived at nighttime, so it was hard to see when we checked in, but in the morning it was plain to see the room was not as expected. We raised it with the Manager and were told no you don’t get that type of room, if you are disabled. All the Access rooms are in one line down the building and none of them have the view or the room type you paid for.

Anyway, we cancelled our next booking there, got a complimentary Resort Fee and we moved on.

Don’t be afraid to speak out if things aren’t right. Some photos were taken over 50 years ago and are still on websites. Some things are carefully worded and others just downgrade you because you need Accessible Rooms, they let you book a better room but you can’t stay in it and unless you query it they will never tell you.

Top tip, always take a copy of the brochure and or full details of what you should be getting as part of your booking.

Not my idea of a Sunset Harbour and Waterfront View
This was more of a Water View
