We stay at quite a few hotels, both in the UK and overseas, as I am sure you can see from my Blogs.
I know some people thing standards have dropped, as people no longer dress for dinner. I must admit sometimes I am one of those smart casual in jeans and a top. This is often because as a wheelchair user, my husband is low down and it is dirtier the nearer to the floor you are, and I often have to help his wheelchair into the car, even with the hoist and who wants to get tyre marks on their dress or have to get down on the floor to attach the wheelchair battery. A casual dinner is fine for me, but I enjoy dressing up if on a cruise as I know I won’t have any of those tasks to do.
However, the drop in standards for people going for breakfast in hotels has dropped to an all time low.
I first noticed in USA last year, but the latest trend seems to be people going for breakfast in their pyjamas. It doesn’t matter if it is breakfast at 7.00am or 11.00am there are people in their PJ’s. They are not just children or families but adults as well. I know my local Tesco refused someone entry to their store in PJ’s and slippers and hotels should follow in their example.
Isn’t it time that hotels set a dress code for dining, even if it wear day-time clothes? I have no wish to see strangers in their PJ’s, at the buffet.
