What a surprise!

We love the theatre and in the main go to see musicals.

We have been known to see the same musical several times!

Sometimes you can see a show in London and then on tour and it is virtually the same show…………sometimes it is nothing like the show you remember.

Last week we went to see Sunset Boulevard (Sunset Blvd.), at The Savoy Theatre. We had seen the original Sunset Boulevard at least 30 times in London and twice on tour.  We even had tickets to see Glenn Close in it, in Los Angeles but it closed before we got there. You could say we are great fans of Sunset Boulevard.

When we heard Sunset Blvd. was opening at The Savoy Theatre, we were excited.

When we heard Nicole Scherzinger was going to be Norma Desmond we were a bit sceptical, as we thought she was way too young.

Then we heard it was going to be a new re-imagined version of the show, again worrying as we so loved the original. We have many friends who worked on the show and it had a special place in our hearts.

We booked but we were honestly a little sceptical. This is the sort of show I wouldn’t pre-order an interval drink, as I may not be staying for the second half. This may sound harsh, but how often have you not liked a play, show, TV series etc. but watched the whole thing – hours of your life you will never get back!

Anyway, this version of the show is just amazing. The whole cast are just amazing. The show is very different, gone are the big sets, wigs and costumes and although it is a very different show. It is just as good, if I dare to say better.

Nicole Scherzinger, is super at singing and acting and dare I say , she was wasted in Pussycat Dolls – IMHO.
