It doesn’t take a big effort to be kind, sometimes it can be a word or small gesture, that can mean the most to people.
This weekend we took our annual Christmas trip to Thursford, in Norfolk.
It had got to the stage where we were wondering if we would go again because of the wheelchair.
We always start with lunch out, on the way and we lunched at The Warrener in Thetford. Lunch worked perfectly, we were early and that wasn’t an issue. We were served by Sarah, who was excellent and very friendly. The menu was great and you could eat from the normal meal or the Christmas menu. The place was big enough for someone in a wheelchair to get around. Using the bathroom was also easy, the staff were on hand to help with the doors but other customers were also polite and helpful Celebrate Christmas at Whitbread Inns
We had booked to stay at Holly Lodge Holly Lodge Boutique B&B we have been staying there every December for a few years now. This year we did wonder about getting about with the wheelchair but we managed in the Cottage and we went into the main house for breakfast with the wheelchair, without any real issue. The hardest bit we getting over the gravel driveway but it’s not that bad. It is a lovely cosy place to stay with great hospitality.
When it came to the show we had great seats, a wheelchair space and a seat a few rows from the front. We had been allowed to enter a special way due to the wheelchair and when I approached a member of staff about leaving this way. He confirmed we could. When we arrived at the exit to leave I explained and we were told that they were aware of us and they would escort us across to Holly Lodge. They escorted us right to our cottage and we were cosy indoors in no time. This small gesture, cost about 10 minutes of Michael’s time but it meant so much to us. The customer service here was second to none and we looked forward to returning again next year – we are already booked Thursford Christmas Spectacular
Remember it doesn’t cost to be kind and it doesn’t have to cost a fortunate to have a good time at Christmas.
