It shouldn’t be this hard

How long should it take to be able to book a show, even if you have to ask a question?

Between Christmas and New Year I spotted something we would like to go and see, at a venue we hadn’t been to before. The listing showed tickets and Accessible tickets but it wasn’t clear what I needed to book, to ensure we were seated together.

I looked at the contact details, there was no phone number, just an email address. I emailed my question, as I wanted to booked knowing there were only a couple of Access places, as there was only one night we could go.

After a couple of days I had no reply, in fact it was 4 January, when most people had got back to normal, so I researched the venue and emailed the same question.

You can guess, I got no reply so I took to Social Media, both Instagram and X  and contacted the venue and the Production Company, by this time it was 14 January.

On 16 January we decided to book to go elsewhere, whilst we were on our London trip and made other plans.

Finally, on 17 January I had a reply to both questions on X and the following day I had a response to one of my emails.

The reply, told me how to book, which I wouldn’t have known. It also told me, whilst the venue was wheelchair friendly the toilets weren’t. I don’t really find this venue accessible as most people going out for an evening will need to use the toilets at some stage. I was also told the social media and emails accounts were only checked twice a week, clearly they had 3 weeks off for Christmas.

I think I learned that is something is so difficult to find out – give up!  To be honest, I only kept trying as I have an odd email address and it sometimes goes in junk.

Thankfully, the other show took one minute to book.
