When we go to stay away or even just for a visit to the theatre, we almost always eat out, I am sure most of you do also, but I want to remind you to beware.
We have dined out recently and on both occasions we were billed the wrong amount.
The first restaurant we visited was for a Spanish Fiesta Evening, we had a set menu, which was £25.95 per head and three drinks, two of them soft drinks. When the bill came it was £83, which seemed too much to me. I am not normally a calculator person, in a restaurant, but I got one out and totalled the two meals and the three drinks. The total was just over £70.
I advised the staff, but it took over 15 minutes to sort out the problem as the button to charge for the set menu wasn’t working correctly. It was only when I said how long will it take, I need to be going that is was finally sorted. If I am being honest it spoiled what had been a lovely evening.
The following evening we went to the theatre and had a meal at the theatre restaurant. The theatre has a set two course or three course menu and we both had the three course menu. Once again we had drinks, one each. Adding this up wasn’t difficult and when the bill came it was clear the bill was wrong.
Once again the till had failed to recognise the set menu price for one of us and added the items individually, which resulted in a bill £6 more than it should be. This took a few minutes to sort out.
Bearing in mind the two encounters I had this week I will be checking bills more thoroughly in future and suggest you do the same. I wonder how many people in those two venues alone were overcharged this weekend.
