When my husband and I first got together I noticed he always seemed to order something different than the offering on the menu, when we went out to dine. I never requested anything different, I might have asked for something to be not served to me, but only if it would affect my meal, if it was something I didn’t like but I could just leave I wouldn’t even ask for that item not to be served.
Times have changed and I have learned to say what I want and what I don’t. I would have food served to me that I won’t eat, as it is just wasteful. I also request amendments to what is offered on the menu. More often than not the request is not a problem.
Since my husband got his wheelchair there are more and more things we can’t do. We can’t access the same hotel rooms, we can’t access some lounges in theatre. The list is endless. I have now got that I ask for things we don’t have access to. I have requested the Executive Package in the accessible room at two different hotels and they have allowed us to have them. I have also requested the VIP Cocktail Package at the theatre, although we can’t access the VIP lounge and they have allowed me to purchase it.
I have come to the conclusion that you won’t get something if you don’t ask and companies are normally helpful, if they can be. It is good customer service to be flexible.
