Sometimes I just get a pleasant surprise.
I had to book a hotel, on expenses, and I had little choice, due to the expenses I was allowed. In the end I chose The Liner Hotel, in Liverpool. I had parked outside it on my last visit to Liverpool, so I knew it was near the station and near the theatre, should anything be on that I fancied.
I checked in and the room was fine. I had a view of the station platforms, but I was six floors up, so it didn’t matter. The TV had Netflix and other streaming services you could log in to, which was great.
However, on trying to use the safe I found it didn’t work and I called Reception.
Reception sent Maintenance and they advised they would try and get a battery for it, but currently they were working on replacing/updating all the safes. I then got a call from Reception to say they couldn’t fix it and would I like to move rooms, I had a few things to throw in a bag, so I said yes. When I went down to hand in old keys and pick up new keys they advised that they had upgraded me to a Superior room!
The Superior Room, had Cake and Bottled Water, in addition to Biscuits. It also had Robes, Slipper and a much larger bed. In addition the TV was much bigger and wall mounted.
I have stayed in Five Star hotel who haven’t provided such good Customer Service.
It is nice to get such a surprise.
