Did you know there is a great restaurant in Central Park?
We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and we have visited on our last two trips to New York.
The service is great and the atmosphere is great. It is a smart casual place. It is a great place to go on a sunny day and you can have a walk around the park.
The restaurant is called Tavern On The Green. The menu is great.
This was most likely our final trip there, which is a shame but it doesn’t really work for wheelchair users or people wanting/needing a cab to get away. It is a great shame but there are other restaurants that will work better for us and you.
If you want to go, I would suggest booking in advance, although there is a bar where you can go as a walk-in.
We were seated outside. What do you think about dining outdoors? We normally shy away from it, as it attracts flies etc. but this time it only attracted the sun really. I would suggest if you want to eat indoors you state that on your booking.
I went there many many moons ago …. In 1984 while on a cruise. We were in port overnight for 2 nights and it was actually one of the evening excursions. I can’t remember what I had to eat but I do remember it was very lit up with fairy lights and it was an exceptional night.
It was a great meal. It would have been nice to have been asked if we wantd to sit in the shade – as it was, I spent the whole meal getting burnt and hotter than the food!!
That piece of cake could be in danger – if it was in front of me now.
