It is turning into the bane of ourselves, getting Accessible rooms and god forbid you want one more than the size of a broom cupboard.
At first you try and adapt to what you are given thinking that this is Accessible and may be it is you, and not the room, but as time goes on you realise it is not you, it is the room.
Most recently we have been in an Accessible Suite, I am not sure who it is Accessible to, as a wheelchair won’t fit in the toilet and there are no grab rails or help alarm in there either. I guess the toilet is not for disabled guests.
There is a large bathroom with shower. However, you can’t get to the toilet in a wheelchair due to the sink being in the way. The shower taps are too stiff to move easily and as for the robes, who decided that the hooks behind the bathroom door should be 7ft high and therefore you guess it the robes which aren’t Accessible.
We have concluded that these rooms have not been designed by a person who will actually need to use the rooms and you have to wonder why.
We tend to stick to the same hotel chain, so perhaps we should try another – wish us luck!
