After a few stays in New York, I just want to remind people to check out there hotel carefully before booking.
I would check on their website and Tripadvisor and other similar websites. It is also helpful to filter for the sort of room you will be getting.
The hotel we stayed at in New York was fine, but there were a couple of disappointing aspects. It was on a big hill, not ideal if you are in a wheelchair. Our room was on the ground floor, due to it being an Accessible Room.
I can understand why they didn’t want disabled guest having to get in and out of the lift, but the ground floor rooms were all at the back and had no natural daylight. I know New York hotel rooms don’t have the best daylight, due to all the high-rise buildings, but I wouldn’t have liked that room for too long.
We arrived very late, so it was already night time. The next day we didn’t realise, we just thought it was a dull day. On the third day we realised there was a window but quite close to it a wall, so we got virtually no actual natural daylight.
If you are out and about all the time it won’t matter about the room and if it is winter – again it won’t matter but beware.

The other thing that hotels need to consider is that in an Accessible Room, make sure that a wheelchair can easily get around the furnitrure, including both sides of the bed!
