I have been frequenting Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants for over 15 years now.
It started with The Narrow, now called Bread Street Kitchen On The River. We went there regularly for years but less regularly more recent. We used to go every Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve. We loved it.
We visited The Flagship Hospital Road Restaurant, Restaurant 1890 at The Savoy Hotel, Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill Mayfair and became known at the Southwark Restaurant, which has changed names about three times. We have spent many happy times at Heddon Street Kitchen. We were real fans of the restaurants. We had at least two parties in the Private Dining Areas at The Narrow and would have had more, if the area was accessible.
We had been to restaurants in Hong Kong, New York and Boston – always loving the food, service and feeling the food wasn’t overpriced.
Recently we went to Florida and went to Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips, in Orlando. Whilst the food was nice, it wasn’t exactly what I expect from Gordon Ramsay. It is exactly what is says, Fish and Chips. It is served in a box like a Fried Chicken Shop would serve food. There are plastic tables and chairs outside, but it is basically like eating at any Fast Food Restaurant. For three people, Fish and Chips for 3, a water, a soft drink and a small can of wine cost £65. I felt ripped off, to say the least.
This experience has put me off Gordon’s restaurants, even though I was a long time fan and a regular at his restaurants.
Have you ever been put off something in this way?

This is the one weakness in Gordon’s empire. The one in Vegas is crap also. He needs to fire himself here…but this wouldn’t put me off going to his other joints. The Pub in Atlantic City is really good.
Good know his Pub in Atlantic City is good.
