Drawing the Short Straw

Recently I have taken to enjoying a Cocktail or two.

The average Cocktail costs the same, if not less than a glass of wine and dependant on the Cocktail you choose, it is normally bigger, than a glass of wine.

Recently my husband has also taken to drinking Mocktails and yet we have both found the same problem with them.

The straws are not fit for purpose, I know they are meant to be eco-friendly straws and or/reusable but they really need to fit in the glass. The straws they give you for all Cocktails are the same size, the straw doesn’t reach the bottom of the glass. In fact once the ice starts to melt, the straw sinks in the glass and you can’t even use it.  What is the point of servings Cocktails and Mocktails with straws you cannot use. One establishment even gave us both a large re-usable cup with straw attached to use as we couldn’t drink the drinks as they served them. The re-usable cups were on sale for £25 each, so buying the wrong straws was not working out well for them.

Don’t even start me on the places that have vast Cocktails menus but when you order a Cocktail they say – sorry can’t do that there is no one working who knows how to make a Cocktail. I have even been to Cocktails Bars and been told this.
