Well it is has been a slow and interesting start to the year.
The New Year started slowly, as both of us have been ill, so what should have been a busy January has turned into a quiet one.
When you have things you like and do them every year, you look forward to them. It could be going to see your favourite football team, staying at a favourite place, going to a favourite place to eat or taking an annual visit to a panto or show.
What do you do when you don’t enjoy it? Do you go back the following year?
We began the year looking forward to an upgrade, which we had been given at a hotel, in advance, which is unusual, but on the day we found ourselves downgraded. We had intended in using a voucher to upgrade, but the hotel had already upgraded us, so we couldn’t and had no need to, so this was an even greater disappointment. However, one quick phone call to ask why this had happened, and we found ourselves upgraded to an even better Suite. If something like this happens to you always ring and question it…………worse case scenario you end up in the downgraded room.
We also went to the London Palladium Panto and that wasn’t as good as it was last year. I am in two minds if I would go back again. Don’t get me wrong, we enjoyed it but it wasn’t a patch on the 2022/23 panto. Some of the performers were excellent but it was just a bit of a let down after last year being so amazing.
You know that we need Accessible seats in the theatre, due to my husband’s wheelchair. Some theatres just don’t do Accessible well, I have recently complained about the position of the Accessible Toilet in a theatre, as it was in the middle of a queue for the toilets and if you were in a wheelchair it was impossible to use in the interval, in fact if you had a wheelchair you had to leave it outside the toilet!!
If you need extra assistance, don’t be afraid to ask, as we begin 2024 we all need to be kind.
