When we think of holidays, what do we think of? Is it sunshine and sand, or is it cultural experiences in other countries?
If you stay away for a few days in the UK, or for a weekend do you count it as a holiday?
If you are planning a holiday in the UK, do you plan it differently?
If I am going overseas I book flight and hotels first.
If it is a holiday in the UK, I book holiday and plan the route.
Wherever I am going I book the hotels so I can cancel without penalty, which I know creates a higher price but I monitor the prices for hotel on a regular basis. On a two week holiday I have been known to save over £900 by cancelling and re-booking.
In the UK I also look at restaurants and what is on at the theatre. I do enjoy a holiday in the UK but it is never as exciting as going overseas.
I have recently started looking more at cottages in the UK, which might make a difference and make it feel more holiday like.
I haven’t dared to book accommodation other than hotels overseas, as I worry if there is a problem, especially if there is a language barrier.
A UK holiday never has the same excitement as overseas, I wonder if that is just me………….
