You often here the saying, if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
We had been going to a pub, with rooms, to stay for about 7 years now. We went back every year, sometimes just once and sometimes two or three times. We used it when we went to the theatre at Chichester.
The place was lovely, out in the countryside and it had a great restaurant. We never had any complaints, everything was always perfect.
Last year the owners told us they were moving North and it would be under new owners next time we booked.
This year, when we arrived, the restaurant looked pretty much the same. The menu had changed, as expected, but the food was excellent, although service was painfully slow, thankfully we weren’t in any hurry.
When we got to the room, not much had changed there either. We liked the room before, but somehow it looked lighter and bigger. It had been decorated and perhaps even had a new bed, or at least a new headboard. I was impressed.
It had always been quiet overnight, as it is right out in the Countryside, but this time it was so noisy, from after mid-night until 2.00am and then again from 4.00am to 5.00am, we really didn’t sleep well, with doors banging all night., both internal and external.
I think the most disappointing thing, however, was the breakfast. It had always been really good, but this was really disappointing. There wasn’t as much choice, Granola and Yoghurt was a bowl of Granola and just over a teaspoon of Yoghurt. As for the bacon and waffles, I think the picture below says it all.
So, If it’s not broke don’t fix it, I think the saving from breakfast is paying for the room re-decoration.
