Have you noticed when you check into a hotel these days there is often a lack of information?
Gone are the days of a leaflet or booklet in the room. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for being green, but the information is now meant to be on the TV screen and it isn’t! Sometimes you have some information on screen but never all and the menus or opening hours are always missing or incorrect.
If you need to know something you used to go to Reception. but now there is a skeleton staff in most places and often no one overnight. You can forget ringing Reception, as if you get someone it is normally a bot and you have to press different buttons to speak to another bot or better still get a number to text your question to.
It is all very well asking you to text if you are in your own country but if you are overseas you can text for free water and it costs more to text than the water would cost to buy. If hotels want to enforce this then they need to use Whatsapp as it is free for customer to text.
Personally, I would prefer to speak to a person but what I don’t want is it to cost me money because we they don’t want to pay more on staff wages.
