Just over a year ago, we drove from Orlando to Miami, according to Google maps it was going to take just over 4 hours.
The reason it took so long was a mixture of reasons.. It was Friday, rush hour, we didn’t know where we were going or the roads. In Florida it’s not like the UK, you can’t just change drivers at Services, For a start there was only three services between Orlando and Miami and if you come off the road to change drivers it can be a 30 mins drive before you can stop and change drivers.
This time we planned ahead, we booked a place to stay about halfway, in Jupiter, to split the journey.
Our choice was The Jupiter Waterfront Inn, and it was amazing. A very good choice. It is so good that next time we are travelling in Florida, we will stay a couple of nights.Jupiter was a lovely place and a surprise to us. It was one of the best places on our trip. The Inn didn’t do food, but there was a couple of restaurants within walking distance and apparently if you drive to Love Street, which sounds so sweet, there are a variety of places to eat.
The drive to Miami is brutal, especially as you get nearer to Miami. Drivers show no mercy and I just have to remember I can drive in London and on the M25 in rush hour – I doubt they could!
Don’t be put off it is great to drive, from Miami to Orlando, or vice versa…… but stop on the way and smell the ocean – I suggest at Jupiter.

What a find!!
