Latest holiday

We had an interesting 16 days away.

We stayed in four hotels, a self-contained flat, a self-contained house and a self-contained studio apartment.

We used, two Holiday Inns, a Holiday Inn Express and a Daniel Thwaites Hotel. We had an assortment of rooms from a Suite, to an Accessible Room. The best Accessible Room was at the Holiday Inn Express. They were also the hotel with the best staff.

We had never used AIRBNB before, but the property booked via them was by far the best property we stayed at. It was in a fairly remote location, but it was just an amazing property.

We visited seven restaurants, five we were returning to as we enjoyed them so much last time. Four of those were extremely disappointing. We did return to a place call Inn On The Moor it was a case of just being there and needing lunch, but this was amazing, the food and the service.  We hadn’t been in there for years and whilst the interior had changed the staff, service and food were just excellent.

I normally go back to places I have liked, if convenient, but this spate of restaurants has sort of put me off. Would you go back after a bad experience?

We had booked two Steam Train experience. The first one was awful and it  almost made me cancel the second one. I am so glad I didn’t as it was so good. We went on the NYMR and we did the Travel and Treats, as we couldn’t get in the dining car. I would suggest if you want to dine, you plan well ahead – we didn’t!

I think on this trip, we learned:

if you have liked somewhere, when you return it might not be the same

don’t be afraid to try something new

don’t think one experience will be the same as the next.
