It was a beautiful day in London on the day I had been offered the opportunity to go to the Mandarin Oriental.
When I arrived for drinks on the Hotel’s Terrace, the setting as amazing. I wanted to document this and asked a couple of ladies to take my photo. This proved to be an excellent idea, as I then spent my time on the Terrace in the company of these ladies, until it was time for lunch.
I was certainly out of my comfort zone, attending an event, where I knew one person and I wasn’t even seated near her, as she was one of the guests speakers!
The lunch itself was amazing and everyone on my table was friendly. The wine flowed throughout the afternoon and the wine waiter could not do enough for all the guests. Water was constantly topped up and the staff were faultless, like a well oiled machine.
Katie Piper was one of the guest speakers and what an inspiration. The other speakers were also great.
I managed to catch up with everyone I wanted to after the event. I had arranged to meet the two people I met at the beginning of the event for drink in Harvey Nicks, so new friends were made.
I stepped out of my comfort zone and had a wonderful time – don’t be afraid to step out, it really provides for some new opportunities.
