Many theatres have lounges, which you can pay extra to access, but have you ever thought of using one?
We have used a few with differing experiences.
Some of them are just not accessible, so we can’t use them, some were accessible before the wheelchair. It is always best to check, I know some theatres have more than one, so always ask and check.
Most recently, I was in the Royal Box at the Palladium, and it’s ante room, the service, food, drink etc. were amazing. I think it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, as I normally go to the theatre with my husband, but this box is not accessible.
If you need seating, check before you book that there is seating in the lounge, for everyone. We once arrived in the VIP Lounge to find about 50 people and 10 tables for two. Both my husband and I are disabled and we ended up seated at a very high bar table, with one high bar chair and one normal chair. It was ridiculous, we couldn’t even speak to each other!
Most recently we went to the Lounge at The Savoy Theatre and the service and product was excellent. The Savoy offer a variety options for the lounge and we opted for desserts and cocktails – amazing.
I would say if you fancy it, check on details for the specific Lounge where you are going and if it suit you, give it a try, most of them are really great.
